Tokyo Temple

Emily and I waited at Sky Tree for a while, trying to reach Kimie, but when we didn't hear anything from her, we decided to continue on with our plans for the day and go to our next stop: the Tokyo Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  I had been really excited to go to the Tokyo Temple, but just like with Atlanta, the temple was closed while I was there (I just seem to have the luck, don't I?).  Nevertheless, I wanted to see the temple, even if I couldn't go in.

Kimie warned me that the temple was small, and that there really wasn't much to the grounds, but I didn't understand just how small the grounds are.  Since land is so valuable and scarce in Japan, the temple grounds consisted of maybe a four foot pathway around the temple and a small open area near the front of the gate.  It was still really cool to see.  Bucket list item: check!

As Emily and I were on the subway, we finally connected with Kimie--and it's a good thing we did.  Emily had been to the Tokyo temple once with her friend, but really hadn't paid attention to which stop led to the temple.  When she verified with her friend, her friend gave her the wrong stop.  Kimie was insistent that we meet her at a different stop, that the stop we had gotten off at would take twenty minutes to walk to the temple.  Emily and I then hopped back on the subway and met Kimie at the other stop.  It was less than a five minute walk to the temple from that stop.

Since the temple was closed, we didn't stay long.  We took some pictures and went on our way.
The Angel Moroni was my first view--we were getting close!
