Looking Like Surgery

The infection in Kai's ear just keeps returning.  Our poor Little Mister just writhes in pain and we can't do anything about it.  Tylenol only goes so far.  We have done round after round of antibiotics (and even some home remedies) but his ear just keeps bugging him.

Kai's ENT is having him get a CT scan so we can see exactly what is going on.  We know there is granulation tissue which is being aggravated--hence the blood--but we need to know the cause of the continual infections.  The ENT thinks that the infection could be so deep the the antibiotics just aren't able to touch it (I don't think that is the case), or it could be that with the granulation tissue being bugged that his narrow ear canals aren't allowing his ear to drain properly, holding in the bacteria (I think it's that one).  His doc also thinks that there might be extra skin growth which could be causing the infections as well.  If it's the last, his ear bone could be worn down, causing damage.

The CT scan should reveal what's going on, and we will go from there.  Pretty much whatever the case, the ENT wants to open up Jeremy's ear canals, and get rid of the granulation tissue.  Which means that Kai will be going for surgery.  Opening up his ear canals will allow for better drainage and may also help with amplification with his hearing.
