General Conference October 2014

My dad was unable to make it out for Conference weekend, so we took the opportunity to relax and watch it at home.  Kimie was in town from Japan, so we made plans to meet up with her after the afternoon session.  It took us longer than expected to get to Temple Square, and we ended up missing her.

The guys stayed for the Priesthood session, while we gals hung around for a bit and enjoyed the scenery.

A Night at the Drive-In

October 2014

One of the most underutilized fun things to do is going to the drive-in movies.  Although most of them have closed, there is still one in Salt Lake.  Shin and Heather came out from California for General Conference weekend and we had a nurse available for Friday night.

Our babysitter fell through, and we were unable to find another on short notice, so we ended up taking the girls with us.  It would have been fine, but River cried through the whole double feature.  Yep, two movies, and she cried almost the entire time through both.  The Maze Runner and Guardians of the Galaxy.  She was fine before the movies, but as soon as the previews came on, she got upset.  I'm not sure what triggered her.  J took care of River during The Maze Runner, and I took care of her during The Guardians of the Galaxy.  Needless to say, I missed the one movie, and J missed the other.  It was an exhausting night.

Zuri did well, though, and fell alseep during the second movie.  She loved the experience so much that she kept talking about doing it again.

We brought snacks and drinks and camped out in the back of the car to watch the movies.

September 2014

Some everyday moments throughout September 2014.

It's really interesting to go back and see all these pictures where Zuri and River are peacefully coexisting and content with each other.  Fast forward a year and they are constantly fighting.  Mostly, Zuri wants her space and River wants to do/play with whatever Zuri is doing/playing with.

River will try to cuddle up with Zuri, and although there are a few times Zuri will allow it, most of the time Zuri just gets irritated and says that River won't give her her space.

So I love going back and seeing that there was a time Zuri didn't mind it, and it gives me hope that as River gets a little older they will get along again.

The beginning--River loves to be naked.  She will strip down completely, including diaper, and then sleep.  Since she's not potty-trained yet, there have been more than a few incidents where I'm cleaning major messes
I got the canopy at a yard sale for a couple bucks.  Zuri loved it while it was in her room, but one day when she was angry she ripped it down.  Needless to say, it hasn't returned, but it was fun while it was there.
"All I want for Christmas are my two front teeth!"
This is the most ridiculous hair style, but it was all I could do and it got her hair out of her eyes
Little Road Runner likes her sister's room a little too much
We love Daddy!
Pears from our tree! J and I canned these all on our own
A little get-together with some Tahoe peeps!  To my left was one of my Young Woman leaders, and the other two were some of the girls I grew up with in Young Women.  It was so nice catching up and reminiscing about Tahoe.
She loves swinging in the park
Kai got a new carseat since he had outgrown his old one.  It's supposed to be a reclining car seat since he doesn't have trunk or neck support, but it doesn't recline unless the actual seat is reclined.  We figured out how to recline the car's seat several months later--a feature we didn't even know our car had at the time.

Trying out something I saw online.  I thought it turned out pretty cute
It was raining and the cart handle was wet.  She wasn't so sure about it at first
