Two months after we were supposed to get Kai's new wheelchair, it finally came! Hooray! It was really interesting to watch the process, because the wheelchair was completely assembled when we arrived. They promptly took it apart, starting from scratch. It took them over three hours to get everything all customized for our big guy, and while I wasn't one hundred percent happy with his alignment in the chair, we were all ready to be done. The PT at Kai's school has helped with that, making some adjustments to help him sit a little better--still, his head tilts and droops more than I would like. I had been anticipating better support with this new chair, and I even mentioned it a few times before we left the clinic, but it still wasn't completely resolved. Like I said, after over three hours, we were all done, and it was cutting into their lunch break.
Other than that, we love the new chair. It fits through doorways; super hooray! It is longer length-wise, so it makes maneuvering around smaller rooms tricky, but it fits through a standard doorway, which was a huge issue with his old stroller.
