Awesome News!

We just received word from the University of Utah~~J was accepted!!! We haven't heard back from BYU yet, but the University of Utah was his first choice because of the medical emphasis. Starting this fall, Joshua will be a bona fide graduate student! We are so excited and can't wait for this fall!

Little Victories

Last night was the third night in a row that Zuri has slept for eight hours or more at a stretch! Yay! She was really tired and fussy last night and ended up falling asleep an hour early at seven. She woke up at three-thirty (I don't know if it was due to the fact that we checked in on her at that time or if she was going to wake up anyway). It is so nice to have her sleeping so long. Since she is still so little, I do worry about her going for long stretches like that without eating, but she seems to do just fine. She eats more when she does, which alleviates some of that concern.
Since Zuri is a picky eater, and we have been having trouble getting her to eat solids, I have been putting rice cereal in with her bottles. She takes a bottle better that way, although she still resists at first. She definitely has a stubborn streak!

Zuri and her glow worm

This is an old video from September, but I wanted to try uploading a video to see how it works. The video is taken with our phone so it isn't the best quality. The video seems jerky when uploaded, but isn't on our computer. (It also works best if you stop the music player at the bottom so you can hear the audio.) Zuri loves her glow worm!

Fun in Gunnison

Over the weekend we went to Gunnison. J went with the guys on an overnight snowmobiling trip to Ken's cabin Friday night. Saturday was spent snowmobiling and having fun with the guys. He came back sore!

Zuri and I took advantage of the guys being gone and got some much needed rest. Zuri had fun playing ball with Grandma, and when Grandpa got home from the trip, they had some good bonding time.

Snow Day

Today we decided to play in the snow for a minute. It was too cold to stay outside for long, but Zuri loved the snow. She loves being outdoors and when it is windy she tries to 'taste' the wind!

Valentines Day

Valentines Day was amazing! It was a snowy morning but we didn't let that stop us from getting out. We had a babysitter for Zuri while J and I went out to dinner and a movie. We ate at Rumbi Island Grill, which is where we had our first date, and then went to see Twilight. I really enjoyed the movie--they did a good job keeping it close to the book. When we got home we were relieved to find that Zuri hadn't cried much while we were gone (she has recently been having separation and stranger anxiety). My Valentines gift from J was a new camera! I am so excited and have been taking lots of pictures.

Zuri's new trick is that she is pulling herself up. She is becoming quite quick with crawling and now only army crawls about half the time.

About Us

Here is a brief background:

J. graduated from Utah State University in Logan, UT with his Bachelor's in psychology. He is currently applying for graduate school in the field of social work. Keep your fingers crossed! He served his mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia, where he would love to revisit someday. He is from a small town in central Utah.

I grew up in Lake Tahoe. I moved to Utah to attend Brigham Young University, where I graduated in Human Development. I wanted to take a year off from school to save money for graduate school. I was planning on attending grad school in California where I planned to pursue a degree in child psychology....but that all changed...

J and I met country swing dancing in Provo. We were married 2006 in Manti, UT. We added a new member to our family two years later--Zuri, who is nine months old. She is a shining light and such a joy in our lives. She had a rocky start but is doing well, despite being so little. She is our little peanut.
