A California Wedding

Shin and Heather were sealed in the Sacramento, CA temple on May 18th.  The reception was held in Lake Tahoe later that evening.  I am so happy for my brother and my new sister-in-law!

We had a whirlwind trip to California and back (sorry for those who didn't know we were coming--we knew we wouldn't have any extra time to visit).  We left Thursday morning at 4:30 am and made good time to my grandparents house in Sacramento.  We were exhausted, however, and Zuri crashed at 5:30 pm, with J following an hour later.

Friday morning we got ready for the wedding and went out to the temple.  The sealing was beautiful, and both Shin and Heather just glowed.  After the sealing, we went up to Lake Tahoe for the reception.  Shin and Heather had a ring ceremony complete with a formal procession for those who were unable to attend the temple ceremony.  We had planned on Skyping with Emily during the ring ceremony, so that she could be a part of the wedding, but we were unable to get an internet connection and cell service was too low to connect.

Saturday morning we were up early, going out to Vikingsholm and Eagle Falls, which overlooks Emerald Bay.  Zuri was a little moody, but she had fun exploring.  I think the whole weekend threw her schedule way out of whack, because she acted tired almost the whole time.  We had brunch with Shin and Heather at Heather's mom's house.

We spent a little time at the lake, where J and Zuri braved the cold water.  Zuri kept insisting that she wanted to swim, and we thought that once she felt how cold the water was, that she would decide against going in.  Ha, we should have known better.  She was shivering when they came out, but she still wanted to swim longer.  It was too funny.  We went back to my dad's house and changed, then made the trek back home.  Because we left so late, we didn't make it in until almost 2 am Sunday morning, and we only had the nurse watching Jeremy until 7 am.

The time felt too short, and we would have liked to have been able to stay longer, but we are grateful for the time that we did have, and to be able to celebrate Shin and Heather's special day.

The difference between J's camera and mine.  I think J had some filter on his camera which muted the colors; too bad, because it is an awesome shot.  Josh's picture above--mine below.
