Spring-time wanderings

This weekend we went out and enjoyed the spring weather! We took a walk to BYU and enjoyed lunch at the L&T soup and salad place in the CougarEat. I haven't been there since my BYU days! It was so yummy!
Speaking of BYU, J has officially heard from the graduate department. He is on the waiting list to get in. Since we already know he is into the University of Utah, we are not going to wait to see if he makes it past the waiting list. We are officially going to be moving sometime in the next couple months. We will be sad to leave our ward and the area, but I think we are both ready for a change.

Sunday, J and I were fortunate enough to get tickets for the Draper temple dedication. It was really nice, and we enjoyed it. It gave us a preview for conference in a couple of weeks! After the dedication, we went north and had dinner at the Lucero's house. We felt bad because we double-booked that night! Oops! It ended well, though, and we had a blast! Zuri, after a rocky start, was finally the cutie we know she is, and was the center of attention.

Here she is playing with her Aunt Shawnie!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Me: How do you do that?
J: (groggily) Do what?
Me: Fall asleep so quickly
J: The secret is milk
Me: (laughing)
J: What was the question?

That conversation took place last night as we were going to sleep. J can fall asleep the moment his head hits the pillow and it takes me forever to fall asleep. He can be really funny when he is half-asleep and talking. J is definitely a morning person and gets so tired at night; I am the opposite. I am so tired in the morning and wide awake at night!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

So last night we swear we heard Zuri say "Ma-ma." It was very clear; now as to whether she knew what she was saying, is not really known. I would like to think she did! She usually says "na-na-na." J has been trying to get her to say "da-da" but no luck!

On to other news. We are once again in nice spring weather, which means we are invaded by ants. They crawl out from our heating vents and we are invaded every spring. I have been setting ant traps today. Shin did that for us last spring and it worked better than spraying. We are going to miss our ward and this neighborhood, but we are looking forward to moving.

Bumps and Bruises

Okay, so I know I have a funny look on my face, but in all fairness, I was staring right into the sun! Love the look on Zuri's face! This was taken on our walk to church last Sunday. We were enjoying the spring weather! Zuri has learned how to clap! It's fun to watch as she learns new skills. Fun, and scary. Last week she decided to put her new climbing skills to the test and tried to climb her stroller. That didn't work so well and she ended up with the stroller on top of her. Injuries included a couple of scrapes and a black eye. Scared me though; the stroller weighs twice as much as Zuri! The bruise is healing quite well and is almost gone now. I know this bruise will be the first of many to come, but it doesn't make it any easier when it happens!

Zuri Babbling and Intruder Alert?

I took this video in the car with my cell phone so the quality isn't the greatest, but Zuri was being so cute after being so ornery! We were out and about running errands and stopped in show Zuri off to J's coworkers and Zuri was crrrannky. She had only a half hour nap and was tired. We figured she would crash in the car on the way home, but we were much mistaken. She is like me when she is tired: either incredibly grumpy or loopy.
We had an interesting incident happen last night. It was around one in the morning and I woke up to some noises. Our motion sensor light had come on and it sounded like someone was either in our kitchen or outside our door. We rarely have the doors locked when we are home--including at night, so it was entirely possible someone could have entered the house. I am not one of those girls who get frightened easily, but this scared me. I woke J up and he grabbed his trusty tennis racket and we went to investigate. Nothing was found, although we noticed our barbecue was moved off kilter this morning. Our best guess is that some animal was attracted to the smell and wanted a taste. We know there are deer in the area, but other than a cat or a dog, I don't know what it could have been. It had to have been a bigger animal to make the noises we heard.

Nap Time

Zuri's taking a nap right now, so I had the idea to post a couple of picures of her napping in different places! The top picture was taken last week. She was playing in her activity center while I was doing the dishes. She suddenly got really quiet and I looked over to find that she had fallen asleep! She goes and goes and then crashes. She doesn't want to miss out on anything and keeps herself awake as long as she can.
The picture below was taken today on our walk. She was sleepy before we left and fell asleep about three-quarters a way through the walk. She loves being outside and gets so excited to see the world. She kicks her legs and arms and babbles. It's hilarious!

Bundle of Joy

Zuri turned 10 months old on Sunday. How quickly the time has gone; only two more months and she will be a year old! So hard to believe. It's hard to believe that less than a year ago, she was still in my tummy. We are amazed at how quickly she learns and how smart she is already. We have had so much fun watching her personality develop. She definitely rules the house! She lets us know what she wants and doesn't want. She has her daddy and me wrapped around her finger. This little person who is coming to be...it really is miraculous. How can you look into her little face and not know that she is a gift from God? Her journey to this earth started out rough, but she is a survivor. She is such a happy soul and brings so much joy to our lives.

Play Time!

Zuri's new favorite pastime is reading. She loves books. We read to her every night just before bed, and she gets upset when we put the books away. It's too cute. We hope to continue her love of reading throughout her life. Maybe she will be a reader like her mom! :-)

Another one of her favorite things to do is to crawl under her activity center and play! This is the first time I caught her doing so, and I had to take pictures! I think it's so funny that she loves it under there.
