We were all starting to get a little hungry after Ginkakuji, so we grabbed a taxi and went to a sushi restaurant for lunch. Emily really wanted me to experience "conveyor belt sushi." After eating, we perused a few shops before heading to our next destination.

Kiyoshi-San in the front with the taxi driver, who was extremely talkative--in Japanese (I think he may have been relieved that there were native speakers with us)

I love the rounded lights on the police car

I know it is hard to see, but if you look on the mountainside, there is a big kanji carved out

Conveyor belt sushi! You picked what you want from the conveyor belt. If there is a particular dish you want more of, or isn't on the conveyor, you punch it into the screen at the top, and it zips to you on the top conveyor. You put your dishes in the slot and it counts each dish (after so many dishes you get a virtual spin for a prize). Pretty fun.

Some of our picks--and yes, I tried everything, even natto, which is fermented soybeans! They all had a good laugh at my reaction to that one! They wouldn't tell me what it was until after I tried it. The initial taste wasn't so bad, and then the "flavor" set it. Let's just say I needed to get that taste out as quickly as possible!
