Sometimes, in order to capture the beauty of a moment, you have to be unprepared. We had been asked if we would like a photographer to come in and take pictures of River--to which we answered in the affirmative. I thought it was the normal birth picture that is taken (you know, baby in a onsie, picture taken in the nursery bed), but there was an actual photographer that came in and took pictures of our baby girl--and us, all done in our room at the hospital. I had just gotten out of the shower, my hair was wet, I didn't have a stitch of make-up on, I was wearing the hospital gown, and I was still super swollen from giving birth. I had no idea that she would take pictures of J and me along with River. If I had, I most certainly would have done my hair and make-up at least, and yet, there is a beauty that is found in those photos--completely raw and unplanned.
The photographer was enamored with River, and kept taking pictures. In fact, she mentioned several times that she was taking way too many, but she would just click, click, click away.
