To Sleep Like a Child

The other week Zuri caught a cold from school.  The cold created fluid buildup in her ears, causing a big fever and ear infection.  I had to keep her home from school all week.  Our first indication that she wasn't feeling well was that she was overly tired.  She fell asleep in the cart while I was shopping.

So, I have decided to dedicate a post to all the fun sleeping positions that I have caught Zuri in over the last month.  She is like J where she once she gets tired, she pretty much just conks out.  Our little energizer bunny does have to recharge! :-)

Even in her sleep, she has a tendency to move around a lot and we have found her in tons of crazy positions in bed!  This picture was taken at my grandparents house.

This is my favorite.  She fell asleep in this cart before she really got sick, but it was the second time in several days that she had fallen asleep in a shopping cart.

Sleeping in the closet (again).  She put herself to bed.  This was during her sickness, after she had been throwing up.

On the way home from school one day.

Zuri has pretty much outgrown naps at this point, but she gets really tired right around four.  I have tried to get her down for earlier naps, but she just ends up playing in her room for several hours.  If we let her take a short nap at four, then she is up too late at night.  So, basically from four until seven (her bedtime) she is ornery.  It gets really rough in the evenings because I know that she is tired, but I have to push forward until bedtime.

Good news is, she sleeps through the night (barring the occasional wake-up), and she will sleep until seven (when we have to be up for the nurse anyway).  She is also a morning person (like J) and will roll out of bed with tons of energy and a smile on her face.

The other morning she had slept in and I needed to get her up for school, so I thought I would cuddle with her for a few seconds before waking her.  No such luck.  She woke up the instant I opened her door, popped up, peeked out her window, and exclaimed, "the sun is up!  It's snowing!  Mom, look!  It's snowing!"

What a little character.

As for me, any who have had the unfortunate experience of seeing me in the morning know that I am not a morning person.  In fact, I saw a pin on pinterest that describes me perfectly, just replace nap with sleep.
why I should never nap

I am laughing even as I am typing.  Hopefully, Zuri will be able to keep up being a morning person as she grows.  I laugh about how I am in the morning (give me a good half an hour and a shower and I am good), but I wish I was more like Zuri and J--able to wake up with a smile and ready to tackle the new day.  Kai is more like me.  He fights going to sleep, and then it takes him quite some time to wake up.  He isn't much of a napper either.  If he does nap, it is only for an hour.
