Morning Hike

Yellowstone, August 2014
Day 4

We spent the night at Indian Creek Campground.  We set up camp and ate fairly late--after the sun had gone down.  While we were cooking our food we heard several grunts and and shuffles, and we swear it sounded like a bear.  It had us pretty spooked, but by the time we went to bed all was quiet.

In the morning I woke before everyone, so I took a little walk by the river to capture the sunrise on the misty water.  It was beautiful, and on the way back J joined me.  There were a couple trails and we followed one that looped back to our campground.  It was so rejuvenating.

This was on one of the campsites near us.  A creative way to show the site is taken
We weren't even five miles out of Indian Creek Campground in the morning when we spotted a bear.  So, it was very probable that the noises we had heard the night before were from a bear--perhaps the same one we saw in the morning.  The bear was also headed away from the direction of the campground.

Great Fountain Geyser

Yellowstone, August 2014
Day 3

It was late in the day and both J and Zuri were sleepy.  We stopped at the Great Fountain Geyser and saw that it was set to erupt within the next couple hours.  Since J and Zuri needed a rest, Emily and I sat on the bench and talked while the other two took a nap in the car.

It erupted near the very end of the time frame, but it was well worth it.  We were so close to the geyser and it shot so high--it was amazing!

After the Great Fountain Geyser, we stopped off at this little area (the name eludes me right now), and I was able to get some gorgeous shots.  None of these pictures have been altered in any way.

The River

Yellowstone, August 2014
Day 3

For lunch we stopped in at a picnic area right next to the river.  After eating we enjoyed a refreshing romp in the river.  It was Zuri's favorite part of the trip, and she kept talking about going swimming in the river the rest of the time we were there.

Acting silly
This is Wolf-Girl.  Wolf-Girl was given to Zuri by her daddy when he went to Alaska.  Wolf-Girl was Zuri's favorite toy/stuffed animal.  She went everywhere with Zuri.  Wolf-Girl was lost sometime in the spring of 2015 and has not been found since.  Zuri was devastated and still mourns her stuffed friend.
